Assistant Director of Residence Life Job Description:
The Assistant Director of Residence Life (ADRL) is an essential part of the Residence Life team. Reporting to the Executive Director of Residence Life & Operations, the ADRL is responsible for supervising the Community Assistants, Front Desk and Res Tech staff, while working to foster a sense of community within Collegiate Village and maintain an atmosphere conducive to personal well-
being and learning. In doing so, the ADRL also handles the administrative and operations aspects of the office. The duties of the ADRL include, but are not limited to:
- Lead and participate in trainings for the Community Assistants, Front Desk Receptionists and Resident Tech staff members.
- Have knowledge of the Community Assistant, Front Desk and Res Tech job descriptions and handbooks.
- Lead staff meetings, providing up to date information regarding CV while developing staff both personally and professionally, conducting ongoing evaluation of performance.
- Point of contact for Key System: organizing system, creating keys for incoming/transferring residents, replacing lost keys, and programming property. Computer and Technological knowledge is preferred as the key system is computer based.
- Maintain supplies and vendor relationships, ordering and contacting as needed.
- Work closely with Maintenance Department to ensure the property is always in excellent condition.
- Responsible for room inspection process and charges.
- Be well-informed of policies, procedures and regulations while being able to communicate and enforce them.
- Respond to student questions, emergencies, problems, and concerns.
- Act as a positive role model for residents and staff.
- Participate in all relevant staff trainings and mandatory events, such as Open House and Move in Days.
- Member of the nightly and weekend on call rotation.
- Night and weekend availability is required.
- 40 hours per week (10am-6pm)
- Must live on site and participate in on call rotation.
- Other tasks as assigned by the Executive Director of Residence Life & Operations.
Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Higher Education or Student Affairs (preferred). Bachelor’s Degree (required). Enjoy working as part of a team, hardworking, open-minded, good natured, and likes to laugh.
