Role And Responsibilities
Speech and Language Services
- Provide group and individual sessions according to the Individual Education Plan (IEP).
- Write annual speech progress reports and objectives on IEPs to ensure students are on track to reaching their most rigorous post-secondary outcome.
- Administer formal assessments to determine whether or not a scholar qualifies for speech therapy based on Louisiana Bulletin 1508 requirements.
- Write daily progress notes as required by Medicaid regulations to ensure treatment ties directly to IEP goals/objectives.
- Keep certifications and licensure current and trained on electronic encounter tracking systems.
- Remain knowledgeable of current trends, including federal and state regulations in the field of speech-language pathology and special education to ensure compliance.
- Consult School Leaders, Directors of Curriculum and Instruction and Directors of Intervention and Program Leads regarding opportunities to incorporate speech and language strategies in classroom settings.
- Provide professional development for teachers across the network to incorporate speech and language strategies into their classes.
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic. Ability to constantly find joy in the successes and challenges of our work. Ability to demonstrate that joy towards students, families, and teammates.
- Desire to work at a college-prep high school rebuilding urban education for all learners.
- Having a deep belief in school responsibility is to help all students realize that potential.
- Strong knowledge in the content area of choice, demonstrated through lesson planning, execution, and intervention with all students.
- Must have a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Communication Disorders and carry a valid LA license to practice through LBESPA.
