Duties
- Prepare and dispense medications accurately according to prescriptions and protocols
- Assist pharmacists with medication administration and patient care activities
- Manage medication intake processes, including verifying patient information and medication orders
- Support IV infusion procedures, ensuring aseptic technique is maintained at all times
- Maintain detailed records of medication dispensing, inventory, and patient interactions
- Provide exceptional patient service by addressing questions and ensuring understanding of medication instructions
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals in acute care, hospital, or LTC settings to optimize patient outcomes
- Ensure compliance with all safety, regulatory, and quality standards related to pharmacy operations
Qualifications
- Previous pharmacy technician experience preferred, especially in LTC pharmacy or hospital environments
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medication administration, and aseptic techniques
- Experience with IV infusion procedures and critical care is a plus
- Strong understanding of patient service principles and patient care protocols
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments involving intake and medication management
- Certification or licensure as required by state regulations is preferred but not mandatory for internship roles
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and a commitment to safety standards
