The role of the Maintenance Technician is to perform a variety of duties involved in the maintenance and repair of college facilities; which may include, general carpentry, light plumbing and electrical, moving of furniture, appliance installation, wall repair and painting. May exercise limited technical and functional supervision over student work-study personnel.
The Maintenance Technician receives general supervision from the Supervisor, Maintenance and Facilities.
- Perform a variety of facility maintenance duties including general carpentry, plumbing and electrical repairs, painting, trim repair, caulking and other related duties.
- Participate in moving equipment and/or furniture, hanging pictures and removing and installation of whiteboards.
- Operate a variety of equipment including a fork lift, pressure washer, drill press, skill saw, sander, router, paint sprayer, scissor lift, power tools, motor vehicles, tractors, lawn mowers and other tools and equipment as required; perform preventive maintenance activities on tools and equipment.
- Service and maintain all vehicles including vans, autos and trucks; sending out appropriate vehicles for major repairs.
- May assist with shipping and receiving activities.
- Pick up and deliver supplies and materials.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Required:
- A high school diploma or the equivalent supplemented by training in general maintenance repair.
- Two years experience in general building maintenance.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain a valid driver's license.
- Experience with paints and painting procedures.
Knowledge of:
- General maintenance and repair.
- OSHA workplace safety practices.
- Basic mathematical principles.
- Perform mathematical calculations in order to obtain appropriate area estimations.
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Work independently in the absence of supervision.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Salary : $2,345 - $3,517
