Position Summary

College of Southern Maryland is seeking a temporary human resources office assistant. The temporary human resource office assistant will perform administrative tasks and services to support effective and efficient operations of the human resource department.

Work Schedule: 20 hours per week

Reports to: Director II, Talent Acquisition and Recruitment

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Scan and maintain accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation.
  • Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.
  • Performs periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Training

  • High School degree required; Associate degree preferred in related field.
  • Prior experience in human resources or administrative office support.

Minimum Qualifications and Standards Required

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn human resource information system (HRIS), and similar computer applications.
Physical Demands:
  • The work is mostly sedentary work which requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly.
Work Environment:
  • Work is performed in a relatively safe, and secure work environment.
