What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dental Hygiene Instructor position at College of Southern Idaho?
The position of Instructor of Dental Hygiene is a full time, benefitted position. Core responsibilities of this position include senior clinical instruction, didactic courses, student and program outcomes, student advising and curriculum development and instruction. The primary responsibility is to instruct students using an approved curriculum and prepare them for the profession, including successful completion if Clinical and National board exam. Instructors at CSI are expected to adhere to the ideal that all students can and will learn given an educational environment that is stimulating, compassionate and equitable.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Teach various didactic courses as well as clinical instruction.
- Plans and coordinates for syllabi preparation and revisions ensuring that the curriculum is current and meets accreditation and industry standards.
- Instruction and evaluation of students during their performance.
- Participate in the development of program policies and procedures.
- Assume responsibility for program facilities and equipment.
- Participate in the instructional evaluation process.
- Meets with student to discuss progression in the program.
- Acts as student advisor.
- Compiles and submits semester grades.
- Maintain good relations with the local dentist and dental hygienist.
- Attends advisory committee and planning meetings.
- Participates in writing of grants needed for the program.
- Self-Study writing accreditation every seven years.
- Excel, Microsoft, outlook and Canvas experience and updates.
Minimum Qualifications and Skills
- Currently Registered Dental Hygienist with Clinic experience
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Dental Hygiene Sciences but pursuing a master’s degree.
- Master’s Degree preferred
- Teaching experience is preferred.
- Qualify for Idaho Postsecondary Career Technical Education certification.
