Under the direction of the Dean of Student Affairs, the Director of Student Activities and Inclusion is responsible for communicating and expediting operational procedures associated with college programs; supervising professional staff, student workers, volunteers, clubs and organizations; organizing and coordinating special events; work projects; compiling reports; evaluating programs; supervising selected evening and weekend activities; representing the Division of Student Life at selected meetings and conferences. The position assumes a key role in achieving the educational, programmatic, civic engagement, leadership development, and inclusive excellence goals within the office. This individual also oversees the preparation, administration, and assessment of student satisfaction survey instruments to determine and define student needs and supports the global campus community in efforts to provide diverse and equitable experiences for students.

Required Qualification
- Master’s Degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education, or related area.
- A minimum of seven (7) years’ work experience in student affairs, student life programming, or a related field in a higher education setting.
- A minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience.
- Demonstrated experience in diversity, equity, and inclusion programming, and student leadership development.
- Knowledge of relevant student development theory, DEI theory, and models and their application in an educational context
- Demonstrated experience in group facilitation, program planning, and event management
- Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively and collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, community members/partners, and other stakeholders from varied backgrounds
- Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skills, including setting priorities and achieving program and department goals, and performing multiple work assignments simultaneously with acute attention to detail.
- Familiarity with political, social, and cultural issues as they pertain to student engagement
- Working knowledge of the entire Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook.
- Proven ability to work effectively and constructively with persons of diverse cultures, language groups, and abilities; demonstrate sensitivity to and ability to work with the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience coordinating or facilitating experiential education programs that meet the needs of a multicultural college student population.
- Experience working directly in a service program, service learning, community partnership, civic engagement, and/or volunteer management, including organizational readiness, risk management, and recruitment/training/retention.
- Demonstrated ability to construct programmatic learning outcomes and implement assessment tools to evaluate measurable outcomes.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English.

Summary of Essential Functions
Strategic Leadership and Planning (50%)
- Provide vision for the department; leadership, advocacy, direction, support and evaluation for students and staff; and management of projects, programs, equipment, budgets and facilities administered within the department.
- Oversee the planning and execution of co-curricular programs (includes leadership development, DEI, and service learning) through the dimensions of wellness framework.
- Establish short- and long-term program strategies and goals, identify funding sources, and seek opportunities for new initiatives and synergies across campus and within the community.
- Promote student learning, success, and completion through co-curricular experiences in the functional areas of multicultural competence, peer mentoring, leadership development, community service, student governance, student organizational development, and recreation.
- Oversight of developing and implementing policies and procedures related to student organizations and events.
- Improve the access, retention, and completion of underserved student populations by strategically planning and leading access and retention initiatives such as collaboration, mentoring programs, student success initiatives, and multicultural programs. Provide support and leadership to the division to increase inclusion and equity for students.
- Oversight of auxiliary functions including Student Lounge, Campus Posting and Vendors.
- Develop and publish the student activities brochure, handbook, and other literature.
- Serve as Co-curricular Representative for the Skyway Collegiate Athletic Conference. Conference consists of eight community colleges and plans four major scale co-curricular events per year (Jazz Fest, Art Fest, STEM Poster Session, and Writers Fest).
- Other duties as assigned by the Dean of Student Affairs related to the planning or implementation of programs for students and community.
- Participates in the strategic planning for assigned areas and assists the Dean in developing and implementing the overall departmental strategic plan.
- Lead interdisciplinary meetings and feedback with relevant student service directors, faculty, and staff. Develop assessment tools to evaluate learning outcomes and using data to drive future planning.
Operations Management (30%)
- Supervises professional staff members, including six programs and outreach coordinators (African American, Latinx, LGBTQ , Military Affiliated, Undocumented, and Women’s), one classified staff ( Administrative Assistant), along with faculty serving as club/organization advisors
- Performs both direct and indirect supervision through departmental team. Hires, trains, mentors, and evaluates employees in the department.
Project Management (25%)
- Review Contracts for vendors, performers, and services for recommendation to the Dean of Student Affairs.
- Manage multiple budgets, including, the student activity fee budget and purchasing.
- Chairs the Budget Allocations Team (BAT), which serves as the oversight of the Fund 10 monies (Student Activity Fees) distribution process.
- Compile and prepare weekly and annual summary reports as required.
Other Duties (5%)
- Perform other duties as required.
