Job Description

The organization is seeking a highly motivated individual to be an integral part of the Development Team as it raises funds to support the College Mentors program.  Successful candidates will be passionate about sharing the mission, vision, and values with existing and new supporters, developing relationships, and are comfortable soliciting donations to support the organization. Key fundraising responsibilities of the Associate Director of Development are community funding development, alumni engagement and stewardship, chapter donor progression, and event planning. This position reports to the CEO.

The national office of College Mentors for Kids is located in Indianapolis, IN. This position will be hybrid, with a mix of in-person and remote work in Central Indiana. We will also consider candidates located in select College Mentors communities.

Individual and Corporate Fundraising

  • Prospect and assess new funding opportunities, focusing on an assigned portfolio of College Mentors communities, with an emphasis on converting prospects to donors
  • Identify opportunities to build relationships with individuals and businesses through sharing our mission, vision, and values to establish a web of connections that result in new donors and revenue
  • Steward relationships with current and prospective donors, identifying additional donors through their networks
  • Implement an alumni engagement effort that stewards relationships with recently graduated college student leaders to transition them to givers while fostering connections that lead to additional sources of revenue
  • Steward chapter donor relationships, engaging them with the overall organization and progressing them from chapter to national office donors
  • Under the direction of the CEO, plan and execute events that generate revenue, cultivate and steward donor relationships, and center our organizational mission, vision, and values. This includes securing sponsorships, selling tables and tickets, and other revenue generating actions associated with the event
  • Use Raiser’s Edge donor database and other organizational tools to track donor interactions (Note: Applicants do not need to have previous experience with Raiser’s Edge but must exhibit a willingness to learn.)

Physical Demands/Work Environment

  • Candidates must have reliable transportation. Drivers of privately owned vehicles must have a valid driver’s license and meet required automobile insurance minimums.
  • Candidates must be able to pass a name-based background check consisting of the National Sex Offender Registry, Criminal History, and driving records check.

Additional Information

Salary and Benefits:

  • $45,000 salary
  • Full time, exempt
  • Generous vacation package, including:
    • 16 days of paid vacation time per year, increasing to 25 days over time
    • 8 paid holidays plus the full week between Dec 24 – January 1
  • Paid sick time of 6 days per year
