The CFI Data Governance Manager leads the development, implementation, and operation
of the organization's data governance program. This role ensures that data is accurate, secure, accessible, and consistently defined across the enterprise to support decision-making, regulatory compliance, analytics, and operational excellence. The role works cross-functionally with business, technology, legal, security, and compliance stakeholders to establish accountability, standards, and processes for managing data as a strategic asset.
Salary Range: $120,000 - $125,000
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and mature the enterprise data governance framework, policies,
standards, and operating model
- Monitor data quality metrics and drive remediation efforts across domains
- Collaborate with IT, architecture, security, analytics, and application teams to embed
governance into systems and processes
- Serve as a liaison between business and technical stakeholders on data-related issues
- Support compliance with applicable regulations and standards (e.g., FERPA, HIPAA, GDPR,
CCPA, PCI, internal policies)
- Develop communication, training, and change-management strategies to promote data literacy
and governance adoption
- Oversee the use and adoption of data governance, catalog, and metadata
management tools
- Ensure business metadata, definitions, lineage, and ownership are documented and
maintained
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in information systems, data management, business, or a related field (or equivalent experience); Master’s degree in a related field preferred
- 5 years of experience in data governance, data management, analytics, or related disciplines
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing data governance frameworks or programs
- Strong understanding of data quality, metadata, master data management, and data lifecycle concepts
- Experience in regulated, public-sector, or higher-education environments
- Proven ability to lead through influence in a matrixed organization
- Data governance or data management certifications preferred (e.g., DAMA CDMP, DCAM)
- Experience with data governance and catalog tools (e.g., Collibra, Alation, Informatica, Microsoft Purview)

CFI also provides administrative support for College For North Carolina (CFNC), a free service of the State of North Carolina which promotes NC higher education and assists students with education planning, career planning and applying and paying for college.
