Position: (Part-Time) English Language Acquisition (ELA) Teacher
GENERAL CONDITIONS AND CONDITIONS OF WORK:
The College and Career Academy at Pruden is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a part-time teaching position in the Adult and Continuing Education Program. The desired candidate should have experience teaching students of various levels, ages, and language backgrounds. Primary duties include providing instruction in the areas of reading, writing, listening, and speaking, including formal grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation of spoken and written English. In addition to teaching specified content areas, the teacher will be required to create lesson plans, monitor and assess student progress, maintain data for attendance and other student-related information as requested.
Essential Duties:
- Administers (BEST PLUS oral and literacy) assessments as required
- Writes lesson plans
- Evaluates and monitors student progress
- Maintains records
Knowledge and Skills
- General technology skills - Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite
- Strong communication skills
- Experience using video conferencing platforms, e.g. Zoom, Google Meet, Team
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in English or related field
- Endorsement or certificate in ESL preferred
- Current Virginia teaching license preferred
- Experience teaching English as a Second/Other Language (ESL)
- Experience teaching high school students and/or adult learners
Salary and Hours:
- $40.00 per hour – (6 to 9 hours per week –schedule based on program activity.)
- Evening schedule - (Flexible)

Class held on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm
