Role Summary:
The Programs Associate will be tasked with the administration of the Working Towards Change (WTC), College Bound Advising’s student volunteer initiative. This role is an ideal match for someone who has prior program planning experience and who enjoys working with youth and helping them grow as leaders. This position reports to Eydie Balsam, Executive Director of College Bound Advising, and will work with other College Bound Advising staff members where appropriate. This is a part-time, year-round, and hybrid position.
What will you be engaged in day-to-day?
- Supporting and managing the delivery and administrative aspects of the Working Towards Change (WTC) initiative.
- Assisting in the development and implementation of programs to engage and empower students to develop community service projects.
- Providing logistical support to student leadership, mentorship, and education programs.
- Contributing to the development, coordination, and implementation of new programs and initiatives, including but not limited to Board Leadership Training, Young Women in Philanthropy, and a scholarship program.
- Supporting grant applications and other fundraising efforts. This entails assisting the Director in the development, execution, and ongoing management of a strategic communications plan to inform donors, grantees, and the broader public about Working Towards Change's work.
- Participating in creative brainstorming efforts for the curriculum development and messaging.
- Coordinating with College Bound Advising’s Marketing and Communications team to support organization-wide communications efforts.
- Managing the Working Towards Change communications channels, including social media, email marketing, and print collateral, under the direction of the Marketing & Communications staff.
- Partnering with the Marketing team on the creation of branded content to be used across communication channels, including videos, pictures, and blog posts.
- Researching industry-related topics to support the program’s continued growth and success.
- Performing other duties as assigned.

What qualifications will help you be successful in this role?
- A self-starter mindset with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in communications, nonprofit management, education, or a related field, or completion of at least two years toward a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Experience in program coordination, volunteer management, or community engagement (can include internships or campus leadership).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; confident in writing newsletters, emails, and social media content; communicating clearly and professionally with teens, parents, and colleagues alike.
- Strong organizational skills are a must. Ideally, a balance of creative thinking and strong project management skills,s where you manage timelines, logistics, and multiple projects simultaneously and with grace and flexibility.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace; familiarity with Canva, social media scheduling tools, and basic CRM platforms is a plus.
- Ability to occasionally work flexible hours (some evenings/weekends for events).

Salary and Compensation:
We offer a comprehensive total rewards package designed to support both your professional growth and work-life balance. The salary range for this position is $20 - 25 per hour, commensurate with relevant experience. Additionally, we provide a $500 referral incentive for each new family you refer who enrolls in our complete, comprehensive college counseling package.
As a part-time team member, you are eligible to receive earned but unpaid sick leave, based on your regular part-time schedule, in accordance with Massachusetts state law.
