Key Responsibilities
Instructional Support
- Assist the classroom teacher in delivering lessons across core subjects (Math, Reading, Science, and Social Studies).
- Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning concepts.
- Engage students in activities that promote critical thinking, creativity, and academic growth.
- Monitor and support students with special needs in accordance with their individual learning plans.
- Prepare classroom materials and the learning environment to ensure readiness for instruction.
- Supervise students proactively to maintain safety and promote positive behavior.
- Support classroom management strategies as directed by the teacher.
- Assist with grading, preparing reports, and other instructional paperwork.
- Perform clerical duties such as organizing materials, photocopying, and maintaining records.
- Communicate effectively with the teacher, school staff, and students to support the instructional program.
- Participate in professional development sessions as required.
- Required: High school diploma or equivalent training and either 60 college credits or a passing score on the ParaPro Assessment.
- Preferred: NJ Substitute Teacher Certificate.
- Prior experience working in a classroom or educational setting preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
- Patient, adaptable, and committed to student success.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, and supervise students for extended periods.
- Salary: $32,000 – $40,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
