Job Description
As a SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA), you will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical SQL Server systems. You will ensure the availability and consistent performance of corporate applications. This is a "hands-on" position requiring solid technical skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Your role will involve monitoring system health, optimizing database performance, and ensuring data security and integrity.
Position Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Alternatively, an associate's degree combined with 5 years of relevant experience.
- Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience in SQL Server database administration.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong proficiency in SQL Server, including installation, configuration, and maintenance. Experience with performance tuning, backup and recovery, and high availability solutions.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze and resolve complex database issues.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders and executives, and provide user support.
- Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Required Skills
- SQL Server: Advanced knowledge of SQL Server, including versions 2016 and later.
- Performance Tuning: Expertise in performance tuning and optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
- Backup and Recovery: Proficiency in backup, restore, and recovery models.
- High Availability: Experience with SQL Server high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) options, including Always On Availability Groups.
- Security: Understanding of SQL Server security, including roles, permissions, and encryption.
- T-SQL: Strong T-SQL skills for writing and optimizing queries.
- Automation: Experience with automation of database tasks using PowerShell or other scripting languages.
- Documentation: Proficiency in creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation for database configurations, processes, and procedures.
- Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
