Position Summary
Great States Construction, a leading commercial general contractor based in Fargo, ND, is seeking an experienced and dedicated Superintendent to oversee day-to-day field operations for multi-family and commercial construction projects in the Bismarck market. The Superintendent will manage on-site activities, enforce safety and quality standards, and coordinate subcontractors and field crews. The Superintendent will report directly to the VP of Construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct all on-site field operations for assigned multi-family and commercial construction projects.
- Partner with Project Managers to maintain alignment on project goals, schedules, budgets, and client expectations.
- Coordinate daily activities of subcontractors, foremen, and field crews to ensure efficient progress.
- Enforce job site safety, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
- Monitor quality control to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and building codes.
- Lead daily/weekly job site meetings with subcontractors and field teams.
- Provide accurate daily logs, progress reports, and field documentation.
- Anticipate and resolve field-related issues, escalating when necessary in coordination with the Project Manager.
- Support scheduling, logistics, and resource planning to keep projects on track.
- Participate in project closeout, ensuring punch list items are completed and the site is turned over to the client in excellent condition.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 7–10 years of field experience in construction, with proven leadership as a Superintendent or Foreman.
- Strong experience in multi-family construction; additional experience in commercial general contracting required.
- Solid understanding of construction methods, building codes, and safety requirements.
- Proven ability to lead subcontractors and field crews effectively.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to collaborate as a team partner with Project Managers.
- OSHA certification required; other industry safety credentials are a plus.
- Ability to travel within the Bismarck region as needed.
- Clean driving record.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
- Proficient with construction technology tools including Procore (preferred) and Bluebeam.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.
