Position Overview
The Business Development Specialist (BDS) at READY plays a vital role in driving company growth by identifying, engaging, and developing new client relationships. The primary focus of this role is generating new bid opportunities through proactive outreach, relationship management, and disciplined CRM pipeline tracking. The person in this role will report to the Senior Business Development Manager.
Core Responsibilities
Lead Generation & Outreach
- Research and build target lists of developers, architects, owners, and brokers in retail, restaurant, fuel, and additional commercial sectors across DFW and other key growth states.
- Conduct cold calls, emails, and LinkedIn outreach to secure introductions, discovery meetings, and invitations to bid (ITBs).
- Track and report weekly activity metrics, including:
- 30-50 outbound touchpoints (calls, emails, or LinkedIn messages) per week
- 8-10 new discovery meetings or ITB opportunities secured monthly with qualified decision-makers
- Maintain regular follow-up communication to strengthen relationships and identify repeat opportunities.
CRM & Pipeline Management
- Enter, update, and maintain all client and project data within READY’s CRM (e.g., Monday.com).
- Ensure each lead is accurately tagged by segment (e.g., restaurant, retail, fuel) and stage (lead, qualified, bid, awarded).
- Generate weekly pipeline and performance reports for leadership.
- Support continuous improvement of CRM processes and reporting accuracy.
Pre-Bid & Market Intelligence
- Monitor industry platforms and local development news for new RFPs/ITBs.
- Track competitor activity, regional development projects, and market trends to identify new opportunities.
- Collaborate with estimating and operations teams on bid qualification and proposal preparation.
Marketing & Brand Support
- Partner with marketing to maintain updated contact lists for quarterly campaigns.
- Support event planning and participation in industry networking functions (e.g., ICSC, Retail Live, broker events).
- Represent READY professionally at external events and meetings to enhance visibility and strengthen brand presence.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
- 1–3 years of experience in business development, sales, or client relations (commercial construction experience preferred).
- Understanding of commercial construction processes, bid cycles, and industry stakeholders is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
- Experience with CRM systems (Monday.com, HubSpot, or similar).
- Self-motivated, organized, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment.
