Job Summary:
The Supplier Quality Engineer supports the development, qualification, and ongoing monitoring of suppliers to ensure components meet quality and reliability standards. This role focuses on evaluating supplier capabilities, improving the quality of supplied materials, managing incoming inspection processes, and driving corrective actions. The position also collaborates closely with engineering teams to support new product introductions and component selection.
Key Responsibilities:
• Evaluate potential new suppliers for technical, quality, and manufacturing capabilities and support component introductions.
• Develop and maintain incoming inspection procedures and train inspectors on these processes.
• Identify, develop, and source inspection tools and equipment.
• Assist in developing component specifications and quality requirements.
• Create test protocols, oversee testing activities, and prepare component qualification reports.
• Provide input to design teams regarding component technology, quality considerations, and manufacturability.
• Analyze incoming material defects, determine dispositions, and drive corrective actions with suppliers.
• Provide feedback on new design specifications from a supplier quality perspective.
• Investigate field failures related to supplier materials and implement corrective action plans.
• Work within a regulated quality system environment and ensure adherence to internal procedures and industry requirements.
• Offer guidance to junior team members and lead moderate-scope project activities.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline, preferably Mechanical Engineering.
• Three to six years of engineering experience.
• Minimum one year of experience in supplier quality engineering.
• Strong understanding of component quality, manufacturing processes, and defect analysis.
• Ability to work fully onsite and relocate at own expense if required.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience supporting regulated quality system environments.
• Knowledge of component reliability analysis and quality-driven design principles.
