Job Summary:
We are seeking a Product Safety Specialist to support product composition management, safety data sheet generation, and product stewardship activities for a leading healthcare technology organization. This role will coordinate cross-functional efforts to gather and maintain accurate product composition information, ensure compliance with product safety regulations, and support the development of standardized product safety processes. The ideal candidate will possess a strong scientific background, excellent communication skills, and experience managing complex technical projects.
Key Responsibilities:
• Generate, maintain, and manage Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for finished products and intermediates
• Coordinate with research, operations, quality, regulatory, and supplier teams to obtain accurate product composition information
• Develop and maintain standardized product composition templates and documentation processes
• Support product safety and product stewardship programs to ensure regulatory compliance
• Conduct product and material assessments to identify product stewardship and supply chain impacts
• Maintain SDS inventories and support environmental health and safety documentation requirements
• Partner with quality and operations teams to integrate product safety requirements into manufacturing and development processes
• Support long-term product safety strategies and continuous improvement initiatives
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting established timelines and objectives
• Communicate technical information effectively across diverse stakeholder groups
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related technical field
• Experience generating and maintaining Safety Data Sheets
• Knowledge of product safety regulations and compliance requirements
• Strong scientific and technical communication skills
• Experience managing technical projects and cross-functional initiatives
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s degree or Doctorate in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology, or a related scientific discipline
• Five or more years of biotechnology industry experience
• Experience in product safety and product stewardship programs
• Familiarity with Environmental Health and Safety requirements
• Experience with change management processes
• Experience working in Agile project environments
• Expertise in chemical composition analysis and hazard evaluation
