Job Title: OpenXR App Developer/Software Engineer III

Location: Redmond, WA-98052 (On-site)

Duration: 12 Months (Possible Extension) 

Pay Range: $85 - $90

We are seeking an OpenXR App Developer to join our team in Redmond. This is an on-site, contract position where you will be responsible for building and maintaining XR applications using OpenXR. You will collaborate with engineers and cross-functional partners to prototype, implement, and iterate on immersive experiences across OpenXR-capable runtimes and devices.

**Responsibilities**

• Develop XR applications using OpenXR, covering architecture, implementation, testing, and iteration.


• Build interactive features, including input handling, scene/interaction systems, and rendering optimizations.


• Integrate platform/runtime features such as tracking spaces and scene understanding.


• Write clean, testable code and contribute to CI/build scripts.


• Debug runtime/device issues and provide clear reproduction steps and fixes.


• Collaborate with product/UX and engineering stakeholders; document designs and tradeoffs.

**Education Qualification**

• 3 years of professional software development experience or equivalent.

**Required Skills**

• Experience in shipping 3D real-time applications (XR, games, simulation, or visualization).


• Practical experience with OpenXR, including core concepts like instance/session, swapchains, spaces, and actions.


• Strong skills in C/C and/or C#, along with solid debugging skills. - Experience with real-time engines or frameworks such as Unity with OpenXR plugin ecosystem, Unreal XR pipeline, or custom/native OpenXR rendering with Vulkan/OpenGL/DirectX.


• Understanding of rendering/performance constraints for XR, including FPS targets and GPU/CPU bottlenecks.

**Preferred Qualifications**

• Experience in shipping at least one OpenXR-based app or feature to production.


• Familiarity with OpenXR extensions such as hand tracking and eye gaze.


• Graphics experience with Vulkan/OpenGL/DirectX, shaders, and profiling tools.


• Android XR experience or low-level platform integration.


• Experience in building reusable components/frameworks for XR interaction or app scaffolding. Qualified applicants will be considered for this position in compliance with applicable fair chance ordinances.
