About the Employer

Colfax Elementary School District is located just 5 minutes off Interstate 80 along the Bear River in the Sierra Nevada foothills just below the Tahoe National Forest. Our one-school campus serves students in grades TK-8 with about two classes per grade level. We are small enough that we know each other’s names but large enough to have excellent educational and enrichment opportunities for our students. Job Summary

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Principal the classroom teacher facilitates student success in academic skills through implementing district-approved curriculum; documents teaching and student progress toward standards, activities and/or outcomes; addresses specific educational needs of students; provides a safe and optimal learning environment and provides feedback to students, parents and administration regarding progress, expectations, and goals. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Essential functions may include, but are not limited to the following: -Instruct students for the purpose of improving their academic skills through a defined course of study. -Utilizes lesson plans for the purpose of implementing district and state curriculum guidelines. -Prepares teaching materials and documentation including grades and attendance for the purpose of implementing lesson plans and providing written support and conveying information. -Advises parents or legal guardians for the purpose of providing a method to support and reinforce classroom objectives at home. -Assist other teachers for the purpose of implementing curriculum. -Assesses students for the purpose of providing feedback to student, parents, and administration on student progress toward standards, expectations, and goals. -Collaborates with school personnel, parents, and community members for the purpose of improving the quality of student outcomes, developing solutions, and planning curriculum. -Monitors student activities for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment. -Reports incidents such as fighting, suspected child abuse, and suspected substance abuse for the purpose of maximizing students’ personal safety and adhering to Education Code and district policies. -Directs paraprofessionals, volunteers, and student aides for the purpose of providing an effective school program and ensuring that the needs of the students are met. -Demonstrates methods required to perform assignments and s

PLEASE PROVIDE: Letter of Intent Resume 3 Current Letters of Recommendation Copy of Valid Teaching Credential for appropriate level of instruction and/or subject Copy of College Transcripts LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Valid California driver’s license TB Clearance Criminal Justice fingerprint clearance EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: -Any combination equivalent to: bachelor’s degree and additional certification related to students served. -Prior job related experience and/or education. -Skills to motivate students, communicate with individuals from varied educational and cultural backgrounds, direct support personnel, and evaluate performance. -Knowledge of age-appropriate teaching methods, state curriculum frameworks, awareness of education code and board policies. -Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods; perform a variety of specialized and responsible tasks; maintain records; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, parents, other school personnel; meet and schedule deadlines; adhere to and follow school district policies and procedures. Significant physical abilities include lifting/carrying, reaching/handling, talking/hearing conversations, near/far visual acuity/depth perception/accommodation/field of vision.
