The squad responds to 911 calls and supports local events with on-site standby coverage, ensuring timely assistance when emergencies occur. Team members work closely with local emergency agencies and health care providers to deliver coordinated care to individuals in need.
Role Description This is a part-time, on-site role based in Harpursville, NY. The position entails safely operating your ambulance to and from emergency scenes, medical facilities, and community events. Daily tasks include driving under varying conditions using defensive driving techniques, assisting EMS personnel with loading and unloading of patients, and maintaining vehicle readiness through routine inspections and cleanliness. The driver also helps set up equipment at scenes, supports communication with dispatch and medical staff, and interacts professionally and respectfully with patients, families, other first responders, and community members. No experience required!
Qualifications
- Demonstrated skills in defensive driving and safe operation of an ambulance in diverse traffic and weather conditions.
- Experience or training in emergency services, including familiarity with basic emergency response protocols.
- Strong communication and customer service skills for interacting with patients, families, team members, and dispatch.
- Valid driver license with a clean driving record; eligibility to meet local and state EMS driving requirements.
- Ability to lift, move, and assist with patient transport and equipment as part of a team.
- Commitment to inclusive, respectful teamwork and adherence to safety and confidentiality standards.
- Previous EMS, first responder, or health care experience is beneficial; CPR or first aid certification preferred but not required. We provide all the necessary training!
