Overview
We are seeking a skilled Autobody Estimator and Shop Manager to join our team. This role combines expertise in collision repair estimation with strong leadership to oversee daily shop operations. The ideal candidate will excel in providing accurate repair estimates, managing customer relationships, and ensuring efficient shop performance while maintaining high-quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Estimation:
- Inspect damaged vehicles to assess repair needs and prepare detailed, accurate cost estimates using industry-standard software (e.g., CCC One, Mitchell).
- Collaborate with insurance adjusters to negotiate repair costs and ensure claim accuracy.
- Communicate repair plans and timelines clearly to customers, addressing their questions and concerns.
- Shop Management:
- Oversee daily operations, including scheduling repairs, assigning tasks to technicians, and monitoring workflow to meet deadlines.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and shop policies.
- Supervise and mentor a team of technicians, fostering a productive and collaborative work environment.
- Track shop performance metrics, such as repair turnaround time and customer satisfaction, and implement improvements as needed.
- Customer Service:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, providing updates on repair progress and ensuring satisfaction.
- Handle customer complaints or disputes professionally, resolving issues promptly.
- Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate records of estimates, invoices, and repair orders.
- Manage shop budgets, including labor costs, parts expenses, and operational overhead.
Qualifications
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an autobody estimator in a collision repair shop.
- Prior experience in shop management or supervisory roles preferred.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., CCC One, Mitchell) and strong knowledge of auto body repair processes.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide staff.
- Strong communication and customer service skills to interact with clients, insurance representatives, and team members.
- Solid organizational skills to manage multiple repair projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations related to autobody repair.
- Education and Certifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary training in automotive repair or management is a plus.
- I-CAR or ASE certifications in estimating or collision repair preferred.
- Other Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Work Environment
- Full-time position, Monday through Friday
- Work primarily in a shop environment, with some office-based administrative tasks.
- May require standing, walking, or lifting up to 50 pounds during vehicle inspections.
