What are the responsibilities and job description for the Packaging Service Equipment Technician position at Cole Papers?
Cole Papers/Cole Packaging, a respected and long-standing family-owned company, is searching for a Packaging Service Equipment Technician for our Fargo headquarters.
This is a Full time Monday – Friday 8am to 5pm that requires travelling to do repairs on-site.
Compensation:
- Possible Sign on Bonus
- 3 raises in the first 12 months with good performance.
- Starting Wage $25-33 depending on experience and qualifications.
Key responsibilities:
Installation and optimization
- Equipment setup: Install, set up, and test new packaging equipment and complete changeovers for different product formats.
- Calibration: Calibrate and adjust equipment such as fillers, sealers, stretch wrappers, and labelers to meet specific production and quality standards.
Customer service and documentation
- Customer support (Field Service): Interact directly with customers to diagnose issues, provide updates, and build relationships.
- Training: Train machine operators on how to properly use and perform basic maintenance on equipment.
- Reporting: Accurately document all service activities, including maintenance performed, parts used, and time spent. Technicians may also file expense reports and log equipment data.
Education and experience
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required; a technical degree or vocational certification in a related field (e.g., electromechanical technology, industrial maintenance) is preferred.
- Proven experience (typically 2 years) in industrial maintenance or servicing packaging equipment in a manufacturing environment.
Technical skills
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals.
- Familiarity with various types of packaging machinery, such as case erectors, conveyors, wrappers, and palletizers.
- PLC troubleshooting experience (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.) and basic computer skills for diagnostics and reporting.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Preference for applicant who has experience in repairs.
- Must be efficient, computer proficient and an excellent communicator.
- Ability to communicate successfully, pleasantly, and politely with customers, manufacturers, sale representatives and internal staff.
- Training provided on the job and at manufacturer locations.
- This is a physically active position that requires Heavy Lifting. Applicants should be able to lift/maneuver up to 100 lbs.
- Must have Valid Driver’s License
- Must have an acceptable Driving Record
- Must be able to obtain a DOT Medical card.
