Position Summary
The Sod Farm Team Member is responsible for supporting all daily operations of the Sod Farm, including harvesting, loading, transporting, delivering, maintaining equipment, and performing general farm labor. Team members may operate farm equipment, commercial vehicles, tractors, forklifts, and other machinery as assigned. This position requires flexibility, teamwork, and a commitment to safety, quality, and efficiency.
Responsibilities
This work may include, but is not limited to:
- Harvest, load, unload, stack, and transport sod safely and efficiently.
- Operate farm equipment, tractors, forklifts, skid steers, loaders, mowers, and other machinery.
- Operate CDL vehicles and trailers when properly licensed and assigned.
- Secure loads and verify product accuracy before transport.
- Delivering sod and materials to customers and company job sites in a safe and professional manner.
- Complete shipping documents, delivery tickets, bills of lading, driver logs, and other required paperwork.
- Report mechanical issues, accidents, equipment damage, or safety concerns immediately.
- Assist with routine maintenance, fueling, lubrication, cleaning, and servicing of vehicles and equipment.
- Perform general farm labor, including harvesting, irrigation, field preparation, cleanup, mowing, fertilizing, and other production activities.
- Load and unload materials manually and with equipment.
- Follow all DOT, OSHA, company safety policies, and applicable regulations.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, equipment, and vehicles
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers regarding schedules, deliveries, and production needs.
- Assist other departments as needed to support company operations.
- Perform all other duties assigned.
Qualifications:
The following education, skills, and experience are required for this role:
- Must be at least 18 years of age (21 years old for CDL driving assignments).
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- CDL Class A license is preferred but not required.
- Safe driving record required for employees operating company vehicles.
- Previous experience operating farm equipment, heavy equipment, trailers, or commercial vehicles is preferred.
- Ability to safely operate machinery after training.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to work outdoors in changing weather conditions.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
Salary : $20 - $30
