Position Description
Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL) is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Technologist to support a new, innovative clinical laboratory. This role is ideal for a motivated individual with clinical lab experience who will validate and perform clinical tests, establish new assays with CSHL scientists, and contribute to developing a new testing platform for personalized cancer therapeutics. The technologist will work with the Medical Director and Lab Supervisor to perform tests—including existing assays such as COVID-19—in compliance with all regulatory and institutional standards.
Position Responsibilities
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree, required.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a clinical laboratory is recommended. Experience in general molecular biology techniques, such as nucleic acids isolation, PCR, etc is preferred.
SKILLS: Licensed by New York State Education Department (NYSED) as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist (or Cytotechnologist), required.

Position Responsibilities
- Perform and standardize laboratory tests in accordance with applicable regulatory standards and internal policies.
- Work on development of new test procedures and methodologies and validate as Lab Developed Tests.
- Perform DNA and RNA extractions, grow cells in culture, extract and measure markers.
- Perform testing for troubleshooting, method evaluations, and other laboratory functions.
- Work with the Medical Director, Lab Manager and Lab Supervisor to develop clinical research and clinical laboratory SOPs
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards including but not limited to: NYSDOH, CAP, OSHA, FDA, the Joint Commission, EPA, governing the Clinical Lab.
- Perform related duties as required.
