What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paraprofessional position at Colcord Ind School District 4?

Reports to: Special Education Director
Overview:
The Paraprofessional is there to assist certified staff. A paraprofessional can and should communicate with parents and certified staff who work directly with the student, sharing details about their daily work habits, moods, and general aspects of their day. However, communication with parents and certified staff concerning IEP services, IEP goals, and specific questions concerning a student's grades, discipline, and personal and confidential information about the student or the student's family is the sole responsibility of the certified special education teachers and the education director.
Job Description:
- Working with students in activities that reinforce IEP objectives.
- Student management, walking with students to class, and lunch. Ensure they do not disrupt the general education teacher.
Qualifications:
- Has completed at least 2 years of study at an institution of higher education, defined as completing at least 48 hours of college coursework.
- Has obtained an associate's degree or higher
- Has either passed the Oklahoma General Education Test (OGET), obtained a National Career Readiness Certificate through successfully completing the ACT WorkKeys assessment, or passed the ParaPro Assessment offered through the Education Testing Service. Other Duties:
This may include non-instructional duties, such as lunch duty and bus duty, and may require riding the special education bus route.
