About the Job:

The Director of Concrete Self-Perform Operations provides executive-level leadership and oversight for all union self-performed concrete activities for Colasanti’s turnkey structural concrete division. This role is responsible for managing labor relations, union workforce deployment, productivity, safety, and quality while ensuring compliance with collective bargaining agreements (CBAs), jurisdictional requirements, and company standards.

The Director leads all aspects of union concrete self-perform operations—including formwork, reinforcing, placement, finishing, and associated scopes—ensuring projects are executed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and profitably.

Primary Responsibilities: (but not limited to):

Union Operations & Labor Relations

  • Lead all union self-perform concrete ac vi es across projects and regions.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable CBAs, work rules, and jurisdictional requirements.
  • Coordinate manpower requests, crew composition, and workforce planning.
  • Proactively address labor issues, including jurisdictional disputes and productivity challenges.

Strategic & Operational Leadership

  • Develop and implement standardized self-perform means and methods.
  • Establish product on benchmarks.
  • Partner with executive leadership on operational goals, budgets, and labor strategies.
  • Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, and labor efficiency.

Preconstruction & Estimating Support

  • Support es ma ng crew structures and production on assumptions.
  • Review self-perform scopes for constructability and labor risk.
  • Assist with pour sequencing, formwork planning, and manpower loading.
  • Identify labor-related risks and opportunities during bid and GMP phases.

Project Execution & Field Oversight

  • Provide leadership to Project Executives, Project Managers, Superintendents, and Foremen.
  • Ensure proper staffing, supervision, and u liza on of union crews.
  • Monitor performance against labor budgets and schedules.
  • Resolve field productivity and sequencing challenges.

Workforce & Equipment Management

  • Oversee union workforce planning across multiple projects.
  • Manage deployment of company-owned formwork systems and equipment.
  • Establish expectations for foreman leadership and crew productivity.
  • Coordinate equipment u liza on to maximize labor efficiency.

Safety & Quality Leadership

  • Champion a strong safety culture aligned with OSHA and company standards.
  • Partner with safety teams on training, audits, and incident reviews.
  • Ensure concrete work meets contract documents and quality standards.
  • Minimize rework through disciplined planning and execution.

Financial Performance & Controls

  • Maintain accountability for labor cost control and margins.
  • Review cost reports, labor production tracking, and forecasts.
  • Identify trends and implement corrective actions.
  • Support change management and claims related to self-performed work.

Leadership Development & Culture

  • Mentor Superintendents, Foremen, and field leaders.
  • Support recruiting and retention of high-performing personnel.
  • Promote accountability, professionalism, and respect within union operations.

Qualifications

Required

  • 10–15 years of structural concrete experience with union self-perform operations.
  • Proven leadership in managing large union concrete crews.
  • Deep knowledge of CBAs, jurisdictional rules, and concrete means and methods.
  • Strong understanding of labor productivity, scheduling, and cost control.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Ability to travel to project sites as required.

Preferred

  • Experience with turnkey structural concrete subcontractors.
  • High-rise, podium, or large-scale commercial concrete experience.
  • Familiarity with Procore, MS Project, and Bluebeam.
  • OSHA 30 certification.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or equivalent experience.

Role Impact

This role is critical to aligning labor, operational excellence, and financial performance. Success directly impacts project outcomes, labor relations, client satisfaction, and company profitability.

Pay: $150,000.00 - $250,000.00 per year
