About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Project Safety Manager to oversee and enforce safety programs on a large-scale project in El Paso, TX. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with corporate, federal, and state safety regulations while fostering a culture of safety on-site. Approximately 50% of work time will be spent in the field conducting assessments, engaging with crews, and collaborating with subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and oversee site safety, accident prevention, and fire protection programs.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and proactively address hazards.
- Coach site teams on hazard identification and elimination strategies.
- Engage with crews and subcontractors to ensure strict adherence to safety protocols.
- Investigate incidents, determine root causes, and lead Root Cause Analysis & Five Why Analysis.
- Collaborate with site supervisors and superintendents to improve safety conditions.
- Manage and maintain all required safety documentation.
- Participate in daily safety meetings, job hazard analyses (JHAs), and subcontractor alignment sessions.
- Conduct training, orientations, and ongoing safety education.
- Develop relationships with local occupational physicians, EMTs, fire departments, and law enforcement.
- Manage injury cases, return-to-work policies, and coordinate to minimize claims and costs.
- Maintain and oversee the project's safety budget.
- Deliver OSHA 10-hr and 30-hr training to employees as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field (preferred).
- CSP, ASP, CHST, OHST, or STS-C. (required)
- OSHA 30-hr Construction training within the last 3 years. (required)
- OSHA #500 Trainer Course in Safety & Health Standards for Construction Industry. (preferred)
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction safety management, preferably with at least 3 years on large-scale mission critical projects
- CHST or CSP or BCSP accreditation. (preferred)
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in construction safety management.
- First Aid/CPR/AED or ability to obtain after hire date.
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in conducting incident investigations and implementing corrective actions.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and prioritize safety initiatives effectively.
- Proven track record of developing and leading successful safety programs.
