About the Role The UI/UX Product Design Lead is a player–coach role responsible for leading and developing a team of Product Designers while remaining hands-on in shaping key product experiences. You will set the bar for design quality, coherence, and craft across multiple product teams, while directly contributing to complex or high-impact design work yourself. In this role, you’ll lead a team of designers through discovery, concept development, validation, and execution, helping them grow their judgment, confidence, and product thinking. You’ll partner closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and Researchers to shape end-to-end experiences that are intuitive, scalable, and grounded in real user needs. This role is ideal for a senior design leader who enjoys building and coaching a team, setting clear standards, and staying deeply connected to the work. Responsibilities Design Leadership & Team Development Lead, coach, and develop a team of Product Designers, providing clear direction, regular feedback, and thoughtful critique Establish clear expectations for quality, craft, and collaboration across the design team Support hiring, onboarding, performance development, and career growth for designers Foster a culture of learning, critique, and continuous improvement Hands-On Design & Craft Remain actively involved in design for complex journeys or strategically important product areas Produce and review high-quality interaction design, flows, prototypes, and visual design Model strong design judgment and execution, setting the standard for usability, accessibility, and polish Discovery & Experience Design Partner with Product, Engineering, and Research to shape discovery, clarify problem spaces, and explore solutions Translate user insight into clear experience concepts, design principles, and cohesive end-to-end journeys Support rapid prototyping, testing, and iteration to learn quickly and reduce risk Systems & Consistency Contribute to and evolve shared design systems, patterns, and experience principles Ensure consistency and coherence across products while allowing teams to move quickly and independently Advocate for accessibility, usability, and inclusive design standards Collaboration & Influence Represent the design perspective in cross-functional discussions and decision-making Bring structure and clarity to ambiguous problem spaces through journeys, frameworks, and storytelling Partner closely with the Head of Design & Research to align on vision, standards, and ways of working Key Qualifications 7 years of experience in product design, UX, or experience design, with a strong portfolio of shipped digital products Education: Bachelor’s degree in design, HCI, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience Demonstrated success designing intuitive, high-quality experiences that meet user needs and drive meaningful business outcomes Experience leading or managing designers, including providing direction, critique, and coaching to elevate craft and judgment Strong proficiency in interaction design, information architecture, and visual design across web and mobile products Fluency in modern design tools and prototyping across multiple levels of fidelity Clear, compelling communication skills, with the ability to articulate design rationale to technical and non-technical audiences Ability to balance multiple priorities, make thoughtful trade-offs, and bring clarity to complex or ambiguous problem spaces Preferred Qualifications Experience leading design across multiple product teams or complex end-to-end journeys Familiarity with design systems, shared patterns, and scalable experience frameworks Experience working closely with design research or incorporating continuous user insight into design decisions Exposure to service design, operational workflows, or multi-touchpoint experiences Experience using AI or intelligent tools to support design exploration, prototyping, or insight generation Skills Design Craft & Judgment - Delivers high-quality interaction, information architecture, and visual design with a strong bar for usability and accessibility.
