Ensure effective use of material, equipment and personnel in producing quality products at minimum cost based on the following three key categories
Design Interface
- Provide guidance regarding design for manufacturability.
- DFM / DFA reviews & feedback to design
- Assembly process feasibility assessment
- BOM review & manufacturing alignment
- Drawing & specification interpretation
- Engineering change order (ECO) review & implementation
- Prototype & pre-production build support
- Assembly process development & optimization
- Assembly tooling & fixture design / procurement
- First production build support & issue resolution
- Determine and specify requirements for special assembly machines, equipment and tooling.
- Torque, adhesive & critical process parameter control
- Operator training material development
- Continuous improvement & cost reduction initiatives
- Manufacturing transfer package preparation to include Standardized Work Instructions for off-site Asia manufacturing facilities
- Tooling & fixture documentation packages
- BOM & configuration control for transfer
- Asia site launch readiness assessment to include On-site launch support, ramp assistance and Operator & technician training delivery
- ECO change communication & update management
- Post-launch issue support & sustaining documentation
- Schedule and implement process improvements focused on defect reduction, cost reduction and assembly optimization throughout the manufacturing process.
- Manage utilization of SPC data to direct process improvement focus of the Manufacturing Engineering department.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering (master’s degree often preferred).
- Experience: Minimum of five years’ applicable experience in the production and testing of electromechanical assemblies.
- Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of quality control fundamentals like GD&T, SPC, FMEA, Control Plans, and Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
- Skills/Technical Requirements: Experience with workflow processes in the fabrication, assembly and testing of electromechanical systems and components. Intimate working knowledge of statistical process control methods. Knowledge of design for manufacturability principles. Must be computer literate and have excellent interpersonal as well as verbal and written communication skills.
