Position Summary:
The Director of Therapy Services is responsible for overseeing and managing all therapy services within the Home Health/Hospice division. This role provides leadership, direction, and coordination across all therapy disciplines (physical, occupational, and speech therapy) to ensure high-quality patient care, compliance with regulatory standards, and achievement of organizational goals. In addition to leadership responsibilities, the Director will provide direct patient care through evaluations and visits as needed.
Education / Experience:
Qualifications:
Licensure: Current, active Physical Therapist (PT) license in the state of Oklahoma, in good standing.
- Certification: Must maintain current BLS
Education: Doctorate or master’s degree in physical therapy from an accredited program.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years’ clinical experience as a Physical Therapist.
- At least 2–3 years of leadership or supervisory experience in a healthcare or home health setting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of home health regulations, compliance, and therapy standards of care.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership, supervision, and guidance to therapy staff across multiple disciplines.
- Oversee the delivery of therapy services to ensure compliance with clinical standards, agency policies, and applicable federal/state regulations.
- Conduct patient evaluations and perform therapy visits as caseload and staffing allow.
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare providers to coordinate comprehensive patient care plans.
- Develop, implement, and monitor therapy service goals, quality improvement initiatives, and productivity standards.
- Ensure appropriate staffing levels and assist with recruitment, orientation, and professional development of therapy team members.
- Monitor documentation for accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with payor requirements.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, case conferences, and leadership discussions.
- Maintain knowledge of current therapy practices, regulatory changes, and reimbursement guidelines affecting home health/hospice.
- Foster a patient-centered, team-oriented environment that emphasizes compassionate and effective care.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Ability to travel frequently to patient homes, facilities, and meetings as required.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, squat, and reach for extended periods.
- Frequent lifting, transferring, and positioning of patients, including those weighing up to 50 pounds independently and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
- Ability to push, pull, and maneuver medical equipment, wheelchairs, and therapy devices.
- Fine motor skills to perform therapeutic interventions and operate medical/office equipment.
- Adequate visual and auditory acuity to assess patient condition, provide treatment, and respond to emergencies.
- Ability to drive for extended periods and tolerate variable weather and environmental conditions when traveling to patient homes.
- Stamina to manage a flexible schedule that may include evenings and weekends, as patient needs dictate.
