What are the responsibilities and job description for the Consultant, Antitrust & Healthcare position at Coherent Economics?
We are seeking a Consultant to join our Boston or Chicago office to support a wide range of matters, with a primary focus on antitrust matters. Ideal candidates will have meaningful experience analyzing large datasets using Python, SQL, and Stata, and experience working with cloud computing platforms such as Databricks or Snowflake. In this role, you will contribute to complex, high-impact engagements, learn from senior economists and work closely with case managers and project teams to deliver rigorous, well-supported economic analysis.
Consultants must be able to create work product with an exceptionally high level of attention to detail and precision, while also contextualizing their work within the broader case, all while learning to provide good instruction and feedback to Analysts. Consultants are expected to be advanced in data analysis, detailed research, preparing professional work product, and to have a working knowledge of the economic consulting industry. They are expected to design and oversee discrete projects, supervise and mentor Analysts, think critically about the cases they work on, and communicate effectively with case managers, Experts, and Clients.
Successful candidates will bring strong quantitative and qualitative skills, including proficiency in data analysis, detailed economic and industry research, and the preparation of clear, professional work product. Senior Analysts are also expected to have a working understanding of the economic consulting industry and to be comfortable managing tasks independently while collaborating effectively as part of a case team.
Duties & Responsibilities
Analysis
- Design and oversee discrete analyses and projects while managing time effectively
- Analyze data using Microsoft Excel, Stata, SQL, Python, and other analytical tools
- Identify, diagnose, and solve complex data and analytical problems
- Review, summarize, and analyze discovery materials
- Think critically about both individual work and the work of others
Mentorship & Management
- Serve as a Personnel Manager, providing effective feedback and guidance to direct reports
- Supervise Analysts and provide training, and mentorship
- Support the professional development of junior staff through coaching and constructive feedback
Expert Reports
- Assist in the preparation of expert reports and draft presentations and other client facing materials
- Present and explain work product to Case Managers, Experts, and Clients
- Create professional quality charts, graphs, and other summary materials
- Incorporate feedback from Case Managers and Experts into revised analyses and written work product
Research
- Perform detailed research on securities, firms, industries, and markets
- Audit work product using best practices and anticipate potential criticisms of methodologies, sources, and assumptions
Culture
- Participate in recruiting and other non-consulting activities, as requested by supervisors

Qualifications
- 3-5 years’ experience working in economic consulting
- Master’s degree or higher in Economics, Statistics, or a related field
- Experience working on antitrust cases
- Experience working in healthcare related matters is a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (advanced in Excel)
- Proficient in Stata, SQL, Python, or similar data analysis programs
- Capable of working efficiently alone or in teams
- Exceptionally detail and process-oriented work style
- Communicates clearly and effectively, both verbally and in written communications
- Ability to commute to our Boston or Chicago office on Tuesdays and Thursdays

Salary : $140,000 - $240,000
