Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Communicate with customers’ R&D to understand customers’ needs
  • Manage communication with customers before, during, and after the design-in process.
  • Develop roadmap for the OCS product line. Set the guidelines and spec for the products
  • Accompany the development process
  • Coordinate allocations of new products during development phase
  • Set and manage pricing for the OCS
  • Identify and pursue business opportunities (including, new products, new applications, new customers, etc.)
  • Respond to customers’ RFQs and provide technical and marketing data to support the sales’ process
  • Maintain OCS forecasts and communicate them to stakeholders within Coherent
  • Produce technical documents (specs, user guides etc.) and marketing documents (product brochures, product briefs, white papers etc.)
  • Responsible for technical editing of product data sheets, specifications, and other collateral.
  • Define detailed customer requirements for new products.
  • Communicate roadmaps, product portfolio, selling features, competitive advantages, market applications, etc. to world-wide sales force.
  • Identify and quantify market opportunities for new products within the OCS product line.
  • Own and drive P&L (profit and loss) for the OCS product line and report P&L metrics to management.
  • Monitor market share metrics to assess market performance in individual segments.
  • Drive cost reductions and manage product change notification to customers.
  • Drive customizations and specification review process to win designs at new customers.

Education & Experience

  • BA or BS in Engineering required. MBA or MS/PhD in Engineering strongly preferred
  • The ideal candidate will have significant business experience (Product Management, Engineering, Operations Management, R&D and/or Product Marketing) in a technical environment combined with and a track record of success

  • Experience with problem analysis and resolution at the strategic and functional levels
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  • In depth understanding of the value proposition in existing and new market segments
  • Proven track record of continuous improvement
  • Ability to easily and successfully work with employees and customers in a multi-cultural, global team environment
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and complex issues involving external and internal priorities
  • A high standard of ethics, professionalism, leadership, and competency

Working Conditions

  • This position is on-site in Sunnyvale, CA
  • Will require frequent off-site meetings or travel
  • Regular use of a computer and other office equipment is necessary
  • Interaction with team members and external contacts is a regular part of the job

Physical Requirements

  • Sitting for extended periods while working on a computer or conducting meetings.
  • Use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, and handling documents.
  • Occasional lifting of objects or materials up to 20 pounds for administrative tasks.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Mobility within the office environment to attend meetings or interact with colleagues.
