Role Description The Shear Operator role is a full-time, on-site position based at Cohen Steel Supply’s facility in Concord, NH. The Shear Operator is responsible for safely operating metal shearing equipment to cut steel to specified dimensions, following work orders and customer requirements. Day-to-day tasks include setting up and adjusting shear machines, measuring and verifying materials, inspecting finished cuts for accuracy and quality, and organizing processed materials for staging or delivery. - Knowledge of steel types, sizes, and profiles, and ability to identify materials and handle them safely in a warehouse environment.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift and move steel materials with appropriate equipment, and work in an industrial setting.
- Strong focus on quality, accuracy, and detail, ensuring cuts meet tolerance and customer specifications.
- Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to coordinate tasks with warehouse, fabrication, and delivery personnel.
- Basic understanding of workplace safety practices and willingness to follow company safety policies and procedures.
