As our firm continues to grow, we are opening one position for an experienced Family Law Associate Attorney.

1. Associate Attorney (Minimum 2 Years of Illinois Family Law Experience or perfect for an experienced solo practitioner who wants to join a team)

Cohen Law LLC is seeking an exceptional Associate Attorney with a minimum of two years of Illinois family law experience to join our boutique practice in Northbrook.

This position offers a flexible hybrid schedule with remote work opportunities based on experience, performance, and the needs of the firm. We value collaboration and understand that flexibility helps our team perform at its best while continuing to provide exceptional service to our clients.

This position is ideal for an attorney who enjoys litigation, values strategic advocacy, genuinely cares about clients, and wants to become an exceptional family law lawyer. We are looking for someone who is intellectually curious, proactive, accountable, and excited to be part of a team that takes pride in delivering outstanding legal representation.

3. What You'll Do

As an Associate Attorney, you will play a meaningful role in our litigation practice, including:

• Managing your own family law caseload with mentorship and support

• Appearing in court for status hearings, evidentiary hearings, and trials

• Drafting pleadings, motions, financial affidavits, discovery, settlement agreements, and legal correspondence

• Conducting legal research and developing litigation strategy

• Taking and defending depositions

• Negotiating settlements while preparing every case as though it may proceed to trial

• Working directly with clients to provide thoughtful guidance and practical solutions

• Collaborating with attorneys and staff to deliver an exceptional client experience

4. Who We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

• A minimum of two years of Illinois family law experience

• An Illinois law license in good standing

• Strong legal writing, analytical, and courtroom skills

• Excellent organization and attention to detail

• Confidence balanced with humility

• A proactive mindset and willingness to take ownership of your work

• Integrity, professionalism, and sound judgment

• The ability to work independently while thriving as part of a collaborative team
