Job Description:
Single provider dental/medical spa regenerative type office, in uptown Kingston, seeking trained and experienced dental assistant. Direct patient duties associated with 4-handed dentistry. Administrative duties that are associated with treatment planning, patient communication and management. Computer literacy is a plus.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
Directly assist dentist chairside during delivery of dental services.
Set up and break down operatories with infection control sterilization observed. Sterilization and preparation of procedure trays for individual patients
Expose intraoral dental radiographs.
Digital scanning intraorally
Recording dental findings and data entry into Practice Management Software. Review of comprehensive medical history, with data entry.
Scheduling dental treatments directed by dentist. Obtaining medical consultations, making note of the referrals
Reviewing Oral and Health care patient educations, pre-treatment informed consents, and post operative instructions. Explaining dental procedures to patients.
Maintain database of continuing care (recall) system.
Inventory dental supplies. Materials orders, tracking receipts of supplies, and restocking. Management of lab cases: Packing for individual labs and tracking. Supervising in-house fabrication of prosthesis with 3D Printers, and mills.
Preparing referrals to various consulting health care specialists
Developing rapport with all phone callers, co-workers, guests to the practice, patients, and visitors, so they are promptly treated with dignity, respect, and confidentiality. Utilize practice management software systems of reminders and call lists, to maintain a full schedule.
Qualifications and Skills:
Planning and Organizational skills. (Can alphabetize in English!)
Computer literacy. Type on a Qwerty keyboard with basic word-processing skills)
Well-developed interpersonal, communication ‘soft’ skills
Professional appearance and manners
Ability to ambulate, and pick up 15-20 pounds.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Dental Assistant Certification, or intentions to achieve certification
Familiarity of Electronic Health Records.
Experience using intraoral radiography.
Good time management skills.
Good eyesight with accommodations. Manual dexterity. Good physical condition
Be a lifelong learner. Be flexible and adapt to changes of protocols as new technology allows. A reasonable dental IQ to communicate with the dentist, and to explain procedures to patients. A positive attitude.
Current CPR, infection control and OSHA courses.
HepB vaccinated a plus
Experienced with good judgement. To develop rapport and calm nervous patients. Verbal and written communication skills
