Human Resource Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary information resource for all employee group benefit inquiries. Manage the administration of health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance plans. Coordinate benefit plan design, revisions, and employee communications. Obtain bids and manage policy renewals for insurance programs.
  • Manage employee pension and 401(k) plans, including compliance and communication. 
  • Effectively utilize the ADP Human Resource Information System (HRIS) to manage employee records, benefits, and HR workflows. Assist and serve as backup for payroll processing.
  • Work with ADP on Payroll solutions and effectively utilize the HRIS functions of our ADP platform.
  • Recommend updates to company policies and procedures in response to evolving employees and organizational requirements.
  • Determines and recommends employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote employee engagement.
  • Provide coaching and training for employees and management, as necessary.
  • Serve as a link between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting, and administering policies, and helping to resolve personnel issues.
  • Conduct market research on compensation standards to design equitable salary structures and oversee the administration of employee benefits programs.
  • Participate in interdepartmental meetings to align HR strategy with organizational goals. Fully participate in and support of all Cohen Locations and Departments.
  • Supports Cohen management in the execution of the company’s safety process – workplace audits, accident investigation, and safety awareness.
  • Oversee exit interviews and offboarding processes to ensure a smooth transition and gather actionable feedback.
  • Assist in hiring, onboarding, new hire orientation and maintaining up-to-date personnel files for all Cohen employees.
  • Coordinate Training as needed.

Regulatory Compliance & Legal Oversight:

  • Monitor federal and state labor laws to ensure company policies remain compliant
  • Update and maintain the employee handbook and internal procedures in accordance with legal and industry standards
  • Manage Unemployment Compensation programs, including timely filing of claims and renewals

 Skills & Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR Management/related field or equivalent experience
  • Previous HR Management experience, or minimum 5 years in an HR Generalist role.
  • Exceptional verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal, coaching, training, negotiation, and conflict-resolution abilities
  • Superior organizational and time management skills with a track record of meeting deadlines
  • Strong project management skills, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management experience
  • Adaptable and proactive in dynamic work environments
  • Able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office, HRIS software with payroll experience (ADP Workforce Now preferred) and other software as needed.
