Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Associate Lawyer role based in Fort Lauderdale, FL. The Associate Lawyer will assist in all phases of litigation, including legal research, drafting pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, and trial preparation. Day-to-day responsibilities include analyzing case facts and medical or business records, preparing memoranda, interviewing witnesses, and supporting senior attorneys in depositions, hearings, mediations, and trials. The role also involves communicating with clients, experts, and opposing counsel, managing case files and deadlines, and contributing to case strategy under the supervision of partners. The Associate Lawyer is expected to maintain high professional and ethical standards while delivering diligent, client-centered representation.
Qualifications
- Strong legal research and writing skills, including the ability to analyze case law, statutes, and complex factual records.
- Experience drafting litigation documents such as pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, and correspondence.
- Effective oral advocacy skills, including participation in hearings, depositions, or moot court, with a clear and professional communication style.
- Excellent organizational and case management skills, including attention to detail, time management, and the ability to handle multiple matters and deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment while also managing tasks independently.
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with the Florida Bar .
- Interest or experience in medical malpractice litigation is strongly preferred.
- Comfort reviewing and interpreting medical records, financial documents, or technical materials, with willingness to learn industry- or subject-specific concepts.
- Professional integrity, sound judgment, and a client-focused mindset, with strong interpersonal skills for working with clients, colleagues, and opposing counsel.
- Litigation experience (e.g., clerkships, internships, clinics, or prior associate work) is beneficial but not strictly required for otherwise strong candidates.
