What You Need To Have To Be Considered
The annual salary for this position is between $69,000 - $114,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.

- Lead the design and development of scalable, high-performance APIs and microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
- Architect cloud-native services on AWS, ensuring reliability, security, and adherence to best practices.
- Build and integrate front-end components using React and TypeScript to deliver seamless end-to-end functionality.
- Define and implement integration patterns across event-driven systems, asynchronous messaging, and distributed workflows.
- Mentor engineers, lead code reviews, and champion engineering standards, documentation, and observability.

What You Need To Have To Be Considered
- 8 years of professional software engineering experience, including 3 years architecting cloud-native services on AWS.
- Expert-level skills in Java 11 /17, Spring Boot, REST API design, JSON, and asynchronous messaging (SNS/SQS/Kafka).
- Strong understanding of API versioning, schema evolution, backwards compatibility, and contract testing (Pact/WireMock).
- Hands-on experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL/Aurora) and NoSQL (DynamoDB), as well as caching (Redis).
- Proficiency in CI/CD, IaC (Terraform/CloudFormation), Docker, and container orchestration (ECS/EKS).
- Solid observability expertise, including logs, metrics, distributed tracing, and performance tuning (JVM, DB, API optimization).
- Experience implementing secure systems using IAM, KMS, Secrets Manager, WAF, and security best practices.
- Front-end development experience with React TypeScript (or Angular), including component patterns, routing, and state management.
- Experience with event-driven architectures: EventBridge, Kinesis, Kafka, CDC (Debezium), or saga orchestration using Step Functions.
- Familiarity with GraphQL, federation patterns, or Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) designs.
- Hands-on experience with multi-account AWS environments, landing zones, or service mesh (App Mesh/Istio).
- Deep knowledge of Kubernetes (EKS), Helm, autoscaling strategies, and cloud cost optimization.
- Exposure to regulated industries (PCI, SOC 2, HIPAA) and data privacy frameworks (PII/GDPR).
