About The Role
As a Database Engineer Manager at Cognizant TriZetto, you will design and implement product database schemas. You will assist development teams with database design, installation, monitoring, maintenance, and performance-tuning. You will use your technical abilities and knowledge to help support solutions that meet business outcomes and operational requirements.
As a member of an internal database team, you will support multiple database server installations.
This is a development database engineering position, not a production database engineering position. Normal office hours will be observed with rare weekend or after-hours work required. There is no on-call rotation. Duties are shared among the team members including offshore members.
The successful candidate will have a desire to improve their database skills and enjoys working in a collaborative environment. You must be able to demonstrate the ability to adapt and learn new skills as required to help the business reach its goals.

- Become knowledgeable in existing processes and procedures.
- Design and implement Schema changes to support delivery of Product features.
- Contribute to database and query performance improvements.
- Contribute to documentation as needed.
- Remain knowledgeable on current technical trends and practices.
- Work within the organization to establish and grow best database practices and procedures.

Required Experience

- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server in any edition from SQL Server 2005 and above
- Experience with or interest in NoSQL databases such as MongoDB
- Experience writing code such as Transact SQL
- Understands the concept of relational databases versus NoSQL databases
- Team player and works well in large group environments
- Possess strong ability to tackle complex problems creatively, manage risk and influence rapid decision-making
- Highly driven and self-motivated, takes initiative
- Goal oriented
- Accountable to self and team
- Passion for learning new business, software and process concepts
- Desire to learn performance tuning and troubleshooting

- Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and above i.e:
- Ability to install or learn to install and configure SQL Server in VM environments
- Ability to perform or learn to perform backups and restores
- Ability to create SQL Server Agent jobs as needed
- Ability to use or learn to use Profiler traces and other tools.
- Ability to write or learn to write Transact SQL code
- Familiarity with Query Store
- Familiarity with database concepts such as indexes, foreign keys, stored procedures.
- Ability to manage database server security
- Familiarity with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB a plus
- Familiarity with SQL Server Integration Services a plus
- Microsoft Office Components
- Familiar with E/R Studio (any version) is a plus.
- Ability to create documentation to share knowledge gained with others
Desired Experience
- Prior experience in healthcare industry a plus.
- Experience with “free” tools such as sp_whoisactive, FirstResponder Kit, and DMV queries
- Experience with Alpha Anywhere server and development tools.
