About the role
As a Technical Lead – Data Engineering & Automation, you will make an impact by designing and implementing scalable, high-performance solutions within the Payer domain. You will be a valued member of our engineering team and work collaboratively across teams to ensure seamless integration, operational efficiency, and innovation in a dynamic environment.
In this role, you will:
Lead the design and development of data engineering solutions using Java, Spark/Scala, PySpark/Databricks, and Python.
Architect and deploy cloud-native solutions on Azure, ensuring scalability and security.
Optimize SQL queries and database performance for reliability and speed.
Automate workflows using Unix Shell Scripting, Control-M, and Infogix.
Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of innovation and knowledge sharing.
Conduct thorough testing and validation to ensure solution quality and compliance.
Monitor system performance and implement enhancements based on evolving business needs.
Maintain comprehensive documentation for technical processes and solutions.
Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation.

What you need to have to be considered:
Proven experience in technical leadership and solution architecture.
Hands-on expertise in:
Java, SQL, Python
Spark/Scala, PySpark/Databricks
Unix Shell Scripting, Control-M, Infogix
Azure cloud platform
Strong understanding of the Payer domain and healthcare data systems.
Experience in mentoring and leading engineering teams.
Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
These will help you stand out:
Experience with performance tuning and system optimization.
Familiarity with agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
Ability to drive innovation and adopt emerging technologies.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Salary and Other Compensation:
Applicants will be accepted till 10/13/2025
The annual salary for this position will be in the range of $80K-$130K depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
