About the role

As Lead Java Developer, you will make an impact by executing creative software solutions, designing, developing, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems that power critical business functions. You will be a valued member of the Engineering & Cloud Solutions team and work collaboratively with architects, DevOps engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver high-quality, secure, and efficient solutions.

In this role, you will:

• Lead the design and development of microservices-based architectures using Java and Spring Boot.
• Architect and implement GraphQL APIs for efficient data querying and integration.
• Collaborate with product managers, architects, and DevOps teams to define technical solutions.
• Ensure high performance, scalability, and security of backend systems.
• Conduct code reviews, enforce best practices, and guide junior developers.
• Troubleshoot production issues and ensure timely resolution.
• Maintain technical documentation and contribute to engineering standards.

Work model: Hybrid.

What you need to have to be considered:

• 8 years of experience in Java development, with 3 years in a technical lead role.
• Strong proficiency in Java (JDK 17 ), Spring Boot 3, and Reactive Programming (WebFlux).
• Proven experience in Microservices architecture, including Kafka, Couchbase, and RESTful APIs.
• Hands-on experience with GraphQL and API schema design.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, unit testing (JUnit, Mockito), and SonarQube.

These will help you stand out:

• Strong understanding of design patterns, low-level design, and system architecture.
• Integrate with containerization platforms like Docker and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes.
• Drive CI/CD implementation using tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps. Thought leadership for continuous improvement.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Salary and compensation:

The annual salary for this position will be between $81,337 to $141,500 depending on the experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program and stock awards, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
