About the role
As an AI/ML Engineer, you will make an impact by designing, optimizing, and implementing advanced prompt strategies to enhance large language model (LLM) performance. You will be a valued member of our AI/ML team and collaborate closely with data scientists, developers, and product stakeholders to deliver cutting-edge solutions in conversational AI and automation.
In this role, you will:
- Develop and refine prompts using techniques such as few-shot prompting, chain-of-thought reasoning, role prompting, and zero-shot learning.
- Optimize LLM behavior by managing tokens, context windows, and temperature settings for improved accuracy and adaptability.
- Implement strategies to mitigate prompt injection risks and ensure secure, reliable outputs.
- Apply NLP fundamentals including tokenization, embeddings, and semantic similarity for text generation, summarization, and classification tasks.
- Automate workflows using Python and integrate APIs, ensuring structured outputs with JSON.
Work model

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 2 to 3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Irving, TX. What you need to have to be considered:
- 3 years of experience in AI/ML, NLP, or related fields with hands-on exposure to Generative AI systems.
- Strong understanding of LLMs, prompt-response dynamics, and model limitations.
- Proficiency with platforms such as OpenAI, Google Vertex AI, or similar.
- Solid Python skills for automation and API integration.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills to bridge technical and non-technical teams.
- Ability to document and standardize processes for scalability.
These will help you stand out:
- Experience crafting prompts that balance constraints and flexibility for complex tasks.
- Familiarity with advanced prompt optimization techniques and creative problem-solving approaches.
- Knowledge of emerging trends in Generative AI and conversational systems.

Salary and Other Compensation:
The annual salary for this position is between $64,000 - $95,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
