The Opportunity The College Counseling Lead will collaborate with the Director of Student Wellbeing and the Deans team to design and implement programs that support student well-being and effectively guide students through the college application process. The primary goal of the Deans team is to foster a sense of belonging by creating a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning community. The College Counseling Lead regularly meets with students to provide mentorship and strategic coaching and serves as a conduit among students, families, and MAI colleagues. By being responsive to student needs, the Lead promotes balance, well-being, and a coordinated network of support.
Reporting to the Director of Student Wellbeing, the College Counseling Lead works in close partnership to align college counseling initiatives with broader student support structures, including Personal Learning Plans and holistic student development frameworks. Along with the Deans team, the Lead helps students realize their postsecondary goals and guides them on the best path toward college admissions or career readiness. The Lead provides resources on college options, financial aid, and scholarship opportunities; assists families and students in filtering and evaluating the best-fit college choices; and offers guidance as students prepare to transition into their first year of postsecondary education.
What You Will Do As College Counseling Lead at Masters Academy International, you will provide vision, leadership, and coordination for all college counseling initiatives, ensuring alignment with student well-being and holistic support frameworks. You will guide students and families through the college search, admissions, and decision-making process, providing one-on-one and group counseling, workshops, and resources on financial aid, scholarships, and career readiness. Partnering closely with the Deans team and the Director of Student Wellbeing, you will develop and implement the college counseling curriculum, foster a culture of belonging and curiosity among students, and build strong relationships with colleges, universities, and community partners. You will oversee program evaluation, lead continuous improvements, and serve as a liaison among students, families, and faculty to ensure each learner is supported academically, socially, and emotionally throughout the college preparation journey.
Who You Are You are an experienced college counselor with a proven ability to guide students and families through complex admissions processes and athletic recruitment, including NCAA eligibility requirements. You understand—or are eager to learn—the unique challenges facing student-athletes and can help them balance academics, athletics, and personal growth. You bring ownership, humility, and a collaborative mindset, actively seeking feedback and valuing relationships as the foundation for student success. You demonstrate courage, sound judgment, adaptability, and a commitment to lifelong learning, approaching new challenges with curiosity and innovation.
