EI&C Technician I Odyssey Energy Altura Cogen – Channelview, Texas

Job Summary: Odyssey Energy’s Altura Cogen facility in Channelview, Texas is a natural gas–fired cogeneration plant seeking a skilled EI&C technician to support the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical controls and instrumentation systems.

Primary Responsibilities:

· Perform preventative maintenance on electrical equipment under the direction of senior technicians.

· Assist with troubleshooting motors, breakers, switchgear, MCCs, and auxiliary electrical equipment.

· Support inspections, testing, and maintenance activities during planned outages.

· Read and interpret electrical drawings and equipment manuals.

· Assist with documenting completed maintenance activities in MAXIMO.

· Participate in plant safety programs and comply with all OSHA and NFPA 70E requirements.

· Learn power plant electrical systems through on-the-job training and mentoring.

· Maintain housekeeping standards in electrical shops and work areas.

· Support inventory management and organization of electrical spare parts.

· Operates plant equipment as required (trucks, cranes, forklifts, scissor and aerial lifts).

· Understands and complies with all company environmental, health and safety policies.

· Analyze trends and operating parameters of electronic and electrical systems to identify potential or impending failures and to ensure the plant’s running at optimal efficiency.

· Maintain a safe working environment to include good housekeeping practices in work areas and workshop areas.

· Utilize the workflow management system, MAXIMO, to track maintenance activities, inventory tracking and equipment history.

· Conducts electrical, IC&E, electronic and electrical systems inspections and tests as required to ensure plant is operating within specified parameters.

Working Conditions:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

· Working in varied outdoor environments such as all weather conditions, all noise levels, hazardous conditions, and on a full range of outdoor work surfaces sometimes at elevated heights.

· Various use of protective equipment (i.e. hard hats, safety glasses, air purifying respirator, hearing protection, chemical suits, hot gloves and high voltage protective equipment, etc.) is required. Work with hazardous materials may also be required.

· Working in proximity to high voltage and current with proper training and equipment, operating heavy equipment and rolling stock and entering confined spaces or hazardous environments may be required while often being exposed to equipment and machinery noises.

· Duties require walking, standing for extended periods of time, crawling, stooping, sitting, climbing vertical and inclined ladders and stairs, operation of large valves and other tasks requiring up to 100 lbs. of pulling or turning force, and lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. Exposure to extreme heat and cold.

· All candidates will participate in the post-offer physical examination and drug screening and post-employment random drug screening. There are extensive smoking restrictions in and around the facility.

· This position requires extended working hours and varied shifts including weekend and holiday work. The ability to be “on call” is also required periodically.

Education/Experience Required

Position Specific Requirements:

· High school diploma or GED.

· 1– 3 years of electrical maintenance experience in an industrial, manufacturing, petrochemical, utility, or power generation environment.

· Basic understanding of electrical theory and electrical safety practices.

· Ability to read basic electrical drawings and schematics.

· Valid driver's license.

· Must have legal authority to permanently work in the U.S.

Preferred

· Associate degree or technical certificate in Electrical Technology.

· Experience with motors, motor controls, MCCs, switchgear, or industrial electrical systems.

· Experience using a work management system such as MAXIMO.

· Knowledge of NFPA 70E electrical safety practices.

Pay: $35.00 - $42.00 per hour
