We’re looking for a hands-on, process-driven Senior Manufacturing Engineer who’s passionate about continuous improvement and thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role supports our cooling equipment production activities and new product launch initiatives. You’ll work on site at our Billerica, MA facility, collaborating closely with production, planning, purchasing, quality, and engineering teams to drive operational excellence.
As part of the Operations group, you’ll be key to fostering a lean manufacturing culture focused on eliminating waste, improving workflow, and strengthening process reliability.
Core Responsibilities
- Act as the first responder for technical challenges on the production floor, ensuring rapid issue resolution and preventing recurrence through effective problem solving.
- Contribute actively to new product introduction (NPI), advising design teams on manufacturability and assembly efficiency, and coordinating prototype builds.
- Develop and optimize assembly/test processes for electro-mechanical systems — including chillers, cooling units, and pump assemblies.
- Plan and execute facility improvement projects, handling supplier coordination, approval cycles, and implementation.
- Lead updates to agency compliance documentation, ensuring smooth management of component changes and obsolescence.
- Design and enhance tooling and fixtures to support key manufacturing processes.
- Implement automation and data collection improvements to boost productivity.
- Create, maintain, and standardize process documentation including work instructions, routings, and training materials.
- Partner with shop floor teams to identify improvement opportunities and champion actionable solutions.
- Participate in root cause analyses, 8D problem-solving, and corrective/preventive actions.
- Manage process changes via ERP/PLM systems and support factory audits for agency-listed products.
- Drive cost control and process efficiency through smart design, tooling innovation, and workflow optimization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering required.
- 7 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role (electro-mechanical assembly exposure preferred).
- Strong foundation in Lean manufacturing, process improvement, and continuous improvement principles.
- Excellent communication skills and mechanical aptitude; proven ability to work cross-functionally and independently.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with refrigeration or cooling systems, PPAP, manufacturing transfers, and plant layout/flow analysis.
- Familiarity with SolidWorks, DraftSight, Excel, and MS Project.
- Certifications in Six Sigma, Lean, or Project Management.
