What are the responsibilities and job description for the CMM Technician position at COGENT Infotech?
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, edit, and debug automated CMM programs from 3D CAD models using software like PC-DMIS or ZEISS Calypso to perform complex First Article (FAI), in-process, and final layout inspections.
- Expertly interpret ASME Y14.5 GD&T blueprints to inspect ultra-precision components, including specialized gears, utilizing tactile, optical, and dedicated gear measurement systems.
- Plan and conduct rigorous Gauge R&R, linearity, and bias studies to validate measurement capabilities while designing optimized custom inspection fixturing.
- Oversee, verify, and execute calibration schedules for all shop-floor handheld gages, probes, and metrology equipment in strict compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 and AS9100 standards.
- Analyze Statistical Process Control (SPC) data to evaluate process capability, apply measurement uncertainty principles, and support CAPA root-cause investigations.
Requirements:
- Associate degree in Metrology, Quality Assurance, or equivalent technical/military training, combined with 3–5 years of CMM programming and metrology experience in high-precision or aerospace manufacturing.
- Advanced hands-on experience with standard CMM programming software (PC-DMIS, ZEISS Calypso, or MCOSMOS), with preferred capability in CAD systems (SolidWorks, Creo) for fixture design.
- Expert-level understanding of ASME Y14.5 / ISO GD&T standards, measurement uncertainty calculation, and comprehensive MSA/Gauge R&R procedures.
- Proven ability to operate handheld gages, optical/vision measurement systems, and surface/roundness testers; experience with specialized gear measurement systems (e.g., Klingelnberg, Gleason) is highly preferred.
- Direct experience working within ISO 9001, AS9100, or ISO/IEC 17025 accredited environments; ASQ certifications (CQI, CQT, or CCT) are a strong advantage.
