Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Data Architect to lead the design, governance, and evolution of enterprise data architecture. This role will be instrumental in defining how data flows across the organization—from SAP source systems into a modern cloud-native analytics platform built on Databricks Lakehouse architecture.
The ideal candidate will design scalable, secure, and high-performance data models that enable analytics, reporting, and AI/ML initiatives across Finance, Supply Chain, Operations, and Commercial domains.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and implement enterprise data architecture standards covering data modeling, integration, metadata management, and governance.
- Design scalable data models using Databricks Lakehouse architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold layers) leveraging Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, and DLT.
- Lead data modeling for key business domains such as Finance, Materials, Logistics, and Customer, with strong understanding of SAP ECC / S/4HANA data structures (ACDOCA, BKPF, BSEG, MARA, LIPS, etc.).
- Collaborate with data engineering teams to optimize batch and streaming data ingestion and transformation pipelines.
- Develop canonical data models and semantic layers to support BI tools and self-service analytics.
- Define and enforce data quality, lineage, and security standards in collaboration with governance teams.
- Translate business requirements into scalable data architecture and modeling solutions.
- Provide architectural oversight for data integration tools (e.g., Fivetran), cataloging solutions, and performance tuning.
- Review and approve data models (logical and physical) to ensure consistency and architectural integrity.
- Partner with security and compliance teams to implement PII/PHI/PCI data protection and masking strategies using Unity Catalog.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
- Promote best practices, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement across teams.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
OR 4 years of equivalent relevant experience
Experience
- 7 years (11 years for non-degree candidates) in Data Architecture or Enterprise Data Engineering
- Strong hands-on experience with Databricks (Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Lakehouse architecture)
- Experience in conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling using tools such as ER/Studio, Erwin, Lucidchart, or dbt
- Experience working in cloud environments (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform)
- Strong SQL and Python proficiency
- Deep understanding of enterprise-scale data systems and architecture patterns
Required Skills & Knowledge
- Strong expertise in SAP ERP data models (Finance, Logistics, Materials domains)
- Proficiency in dimensional modeling (star and snowflake schemas)
- Strong knowledge of data governance, data lineage, and security frameworks
- Ability to clearly communicate complex architecture concepts to both technical and business stakeholders
- Strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SAP BW, S/4HANA CDS Views, or SAP native data warehousing tools
- Familiarity with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker and semantic modeling integration
- Exposure to AI/ML workflows and data architecture for data science enablement
- Experience with data integration tools such as Fivetran or Informatica
- Knowledge of Data Mesh principles and domain-oriented data product architecture
