Job Description
Coffman Engineers is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer with three to five years of experience who is passionate about their craft, wants to work on a high-functioning team, and looking for an environment that promotes professional growth. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, have a desire to work and grow with a multidiscipline engineering team, and be willing to have fun.
You would be providing our clients with automatic suppression system design, fire detection, alarm and mass notification system design, life-safety code analysis, egress analysis, fire resistant construction analysis, smoke control analysis and special inspection as well as general fire protection and life safety concepts and research.
Qualifications
Qualifications Include:
- BS degree in engineering or related science from accredited university
- Fire Protection specific degree (preferred)
- From 3-5 years of professional AEC Consulting experience
- PE desired, EIT with ability to obtain PE and/or CFPS
- Experience with the current version of AutoCAD and Revit (preferred)
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Required Duties and Skills:
- Attend and participate in local and national professional organizations, such as SFPE and NFPA
- Perform building and fire code analysis and code interpretations
- Provide peer reviews of colleagues’ work product
- Have or be developing an “area of expertise” within fire protection engineering
- Design new fire protection systems including suppression systems, fire detection, alarm and communication systems. Perform analysis of existing fire protection systems
- Interest and ability to advance to a senior engineer or project manager position.
- Possess basic level computer skills necessary for daily activities including email, word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, and a working knowledge of computer‐aided drafting and Revit, (fire dynamic simulation for fire protection engineers).
- Performs other duties as may be assigned.
- Perform consulting services for internal clients, utilizing Fire Protection engineering concepts.
