Role: Mechanical Technician / Fitter
Description/Definition
Mechanical Technicians / Fitter are required to undertake all types of mechanical installations including pipe work and site fabrication across water and waste water treatment plants, commercial, industrial and domestic type installations. A strong ability to interpret technical documents and manuals.
Responsibilities/Key Duties
- To perform skilled preventative maintenance, tests and repairs in a variety of areas
- Design minor mechanical and plumbing installations
- Carry out all mechanical and plumbing installations
- Calculating material quantities and lists
- Finding and solving (troubleshooting) of mechanical and/or plumbing issues
- Reporting to Senior Mechanical Technician
- To act as a mentor for an apprentice
- Mechanical fit out of water and waste water treatments plants
- Domestic plumbing installations
- Report findings and recommendations to supervisor
- Maintaining records of all work undertaken
- To complete relevant safety documentation
About You
- Relevant qualification – FETAC/City & Guilds or equivalent experience
- Experience in the water and waste water industry would be an advantage
- Ability to read CAD and PNID drawings
- Must be flexible in working hours
- To be able to work on own initiative and to work as part of a team
- Ability to work in confined spaces and to work at height
- Full driving licence
- Experience of welding of steel and plastic would be an advantage
