Job Description
Custodian
Responsible to: Principal
Head Custodian
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Exhibits appropriate communication skills
- Meets necessary health and physical requirements in order to fulfill the physical demands
Essential Responsibilities:
- Maintains all buildings and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas
neat and clean at all times
- Assists in maintaining an inventory of supplies, equipment, and fuel on hand
- Regulates heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to provide temperatures
appropriate to the season and to ensure economical usage of fuel, water, and
electricity
- Follows proper safety procedures to maintain the security of the building and grounds
- Performs minor building repairs
- Reports major repair needs promptly
- Complies with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash
and waste
- Knows and follows all safety rules and proper procedures associated with the job of
custodian
- Participates in required annual safety training
- Works in conjunction with district maintenance personnel to maintain building needs
- Demonstrates positive customer service skills

- Follows Federal and State Laws and adopted policies and procedures in accordance
with School Board priorities
- Conducts oneself in the best interest of students, in accordance with the highest
standards of public education and in support of the District's Vision/Mission
Statements
- Maintains ethical standards, which include professionalism and the protection of
confidential student and staff information
- Other responsibilities and/or duties may be required and assigned
